Freeheeler Campus Hintertux 2022
“The aim of the 2022 Freeheeler Campus is to bring together those Telemark professionals, instructors and coaches from across Europe who have an interest in the introduction and development of the technical aspects of freeheel skiing. This is a unique opportunity to share, compare, learn and evolve how we ski on freeheel equipment, how we teach Telemark technique and skills and how we further develop our Telemark skills both on- and off-piste and in all the terrain types and snow conditions we aspire to ski.”
GOALS
– To enhance our abilities to instruct, teach/coach Freeheel techniques and skills.
– To enhance our specific Telemark teaching skills
– To seek some ‘common ground’ in understanding the fundamentals of Telemark technique.
– To invigorate our own telemarking skills, our passion for the discipline and our skills and enthusiasm to encourage, developand improve the skills and passion in other
Activity & discussion groups (on snow)
– This when different nations and/or different practitioners can describe and demonstrate their tele skiing teaching progressions, others can ask questions and try the ideas.
– Each representative can take a turn – maybe we limit the time for each rep, depending on numbers that book and attend?
– To avoid wasting time changing ski slopes/pistes we will try to programme sessions together that share similar pistes/terrain from one chairlift/ski tow.
– Monday is focussed on the “Cross-over Telemark” or “Why ‘freeheeel, not ‘telemark’?” i.e. considering the ‘bigger picture’ that we not only Telemark and how this concept becomes a part of, and is intrinsic to, teaching technique on freeheel skis.
– The Tuesday is devoted to introduction to Telemark / tele beginners and appropriate teaching progressions.
– Then Wednesday will be for looking at different approaches to developing Telemark skills on fast pistes, steep terrain, off-piste and moguls
– Thursday will have time to complete and workshops from Wednesday and to offer workshps devoted to introducing freeheel skiing to children.
– The number of groups will depend on the number of participants but suggest max. 6 to 8 in each group.

Each workshop costs 50€, multiple workshop bookings are of course possible.
As a guide, ski instructor or official in the winter sports you surely have a suitable ID. With it you buy your ski pass with a possible discount at the ticket office at the base of Hintertux glacier cable car and then come to the campus meeting point in the Tuner Fernerhaus at 9:00 in the morning or 13:00 for the afternoon.
You can pay cash directly at the campus meeting point at Tuxer Fernerhaus.
The evening events at the Tux Center in Lanersbach are free of charge.

- Workshop #1 presented by Geri Tumbasz “Cross Functional Engagement” practice – structured benefit model for alpine skiers.
- Workshop Focus: “Cross functional Engagement” is a methodical element which turns theoretical aspects very easily into practical outcome. We developed this module in the deep understanding of ski practice aligned with the long Austrian tradition of ski history. This is as well the case is we speak about alternative approaches in ski-teaching and practice.
Therefore we demonstrate a kind of a receipt how to turn theory into action without having a focus on theory … just focus on fun in the snow and discover the results. - Not only the theory but also the format how we treat the group is part for the concept and will be consumed by the participants. We address telemarker/skier from out of the word to participate and get deep insights how our concept will work. The workshop format has to be shorten to the essential elements due to timeframe.

- Workshop #2 presented by Walter Unterberg “Cross functional engagement for alpine racers” – structured benefit model for professional/semiprofessional ski-racers
- Workshop Focus:“Cross functional Engagement” is a methodical element which turns theoretical aspects very easily into practical outcome. This module for racers is designed to offer alternatives to typically trainings formats for racers.
The typical obstacle for good skiers is that they already ski very well. Nevertheless, every single athlete has individual weaknesses that are usually cleverly compensated for. Laterality and centricity are very often remedied here. The other impact of improvement usually occur abruptly and often lead to real motivational boosts in training performance.

We are running this kind of Workshop since years very successful with different youth and junior groups of regional and national OESV teams as well as with members of the active A – Teams in cooperation with their head coaches. - The lecture focuses on the aspects of the unique „cross functional engagement method“™.
The easy to consume deployment ensure a good understanding about what we can easily use out of cross trainings-effects when doing a partly different setup and change some environment.
This is a well-developed approach to get alpine Skiers as well as Snowboarder to their next level.The approved concept has long time – but hidden – history in the Austrian racing community. This secret mostly practiced by athletes during their off season helped a lot to avoid laterality and balance deficits.
We offer a inspiring interface to find additional approaches in training and teaching snow sports. Additional to the hard facts and benefits we show some helpful social aspects leading and manage dynamic groups with breakthrough tactics to regroup or overwind hierarchy behavior in a very easy way.
