DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor the 2nd time\, two Telemark World Cup sprint races will be held in Pinzolo from 20-21.12.2024 on the slopes of the „SkiArea Madonna di Campiglio“.The world’s best FIS Telemark athletes will open the FIS Telemark World Cup season 24/25 in Pinzolo and determine their winners in exciting Telemark sprint races.Telemark is the origin of skiing and was developed in 1886 by Sondre Norheim in Morgadal from a means of transportation to a piece of sports equipment for ascents and descents in the mountains\, in which only the tips of the boots are fixed to the skis with a binding.The skier kneels on the ski on the inside of the turn by lifting the heel of the rear foot and pushing the downhill ski forwards.The American piste rescuers in Crested Butte rediscovered the telemark turn in the 1970s and then brought it back to Europe in the Alps.During the FIS Telemark World Cup Opening there is the opportunity to test the latest telemark equipment free of charge at the finish area. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAMME:\n\n\n\nThursday\, December 19\n\n\n\nTraining sessions.\n\n\n\nFriday\, December 20\n\n\n\n8:45 AM – 9:30 AM: Athlete inspection of the course\n\n\n\n9:30 AM: Opening of the sponsor and spectator village\, with entertainment.\n\n\n\n10.00am: Start of Telemark World Cup races – first heat.\n\n\n\n12.00pm: Start of Telemark World Cup races – second heat.\n\n\n\n3:00 PM: Post-race celebration and entertainment for all\n\n\n\n5:30 PM: Parade through the streets of Pinzolo and Carera Square\, featuring the opening ceremony and first-day awards.\n\n\n\nSaturday\, December 21\n\n\n\n8:45 AM – 9:30 AM: Athlete inspection of the course\n\n\n\n9:30 AM: Opening of the sponsor and spectator village\, with entertainment\n\n\n\n10.00am: Start of Telemark World Cup races – first heat\n\n\n\n12.00pm: Start of Telemark World Cup races – second heat\n\n\n\nEnd of the race: Awards ceremony on the slope\, followed by a closing celebration.\n\n\n\nTARIFF:\n\n\n\nAccess to the event is free of charge.
