Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 September 2026

Please note: This is a translation provided for your convenience. In case of any discrepancies, the German version (Datenschutzerklärung) prevails and is legally binding.

1. Data protection at a glance

General information

The following information provides a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data by which you can be personally identified. For detailed information on data protection, please refer to our privacy policy set out below this text.

Data collection on this website

Who is responsible for data collection on this website?

Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the section “Information on the controller” in this privacy policy.

How do we collect your data?

Your data is collected, on the one hand, by you providing it to us. This may, for example, be data you enter into a contact form or an order or booking form.

Other data is collected automatically by our IT systems when you visit the website. This is primarily technical data (e.g. internet browser, operating system or time of the page view). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter this website.

What do we use your data for?

Part of the data is collected in order to ensure that the website is provided without errors. We need further data to process orders, bookings and enquiries. Your user behaviour is currently not analysed for marketing or statistical purposes.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right at any time to obtain information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the correction or erasure of this data. If you have given consent to data processing, you can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. You can contact us at any time regarding this and any other questions on the subject of data protection.

2. Hosting

We host the content of our website with the following provider:

ALL-INKL.COM

The provider is ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich GmbH, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany (hereinafter “All-Inkl”). For details, please see All-Inkl’s privacy policy: https://all-inkl.com/datenschutzinformationen/.

All-Inkl is used on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in our website being presented as reliably as possible. Where corresponding consent has been requested, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act), insofar as the consent covers the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting). Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required by data protection law which ensures that the provider processes the personal data of our website visitors only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

3. General information and mandatory disclosures

Data protection

The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.

When you use this website, various items of personal data are collected. Personal data is data by which you can be personally identified. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and what we use it for. It also explains how and for what purpose this is done.

We would like to point out that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Information on the controller

The controller for data processing on this website is:

Richard Schürf GmbH
Solothurner Str. 49
81475 Munich
Telephone: +49 171 1481355
E-mail: info@freeheeler.eu

The controller is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data (e.g. names, e-mail addresses, etc.).

Storage period

Unless a more specific storage period is stated within this privacy policy, your personal data will remain with us until the purpose for the data processing no longer applies. If you assert a justified request for erasure or withdraw your consent to data processing, your data will be erased unless we have other legally permissible grounds for storing your personal data (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in the latter case, erasure takes place once these grounds no longer apply.

General information on the legal bases for data processing

If you have consented to the data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR where special categories of data pursuant to Art. 9(1) GDPR are processed. In the case of explicit consent to the transfer of personal data to third countries, data processing additionally takes place on the basis of Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR. If you have consented to the storage of cookies or to access to information on your device, data processing additionally takes place on the basis of Section 25(1) TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. If your data is required for the performance of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures, we process your data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Furthermore, we process your data where this is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR. Data processing may also take place on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Recipients of personal data

In the course of our business activities we work with various external parties. This sometimes also requires the transfer of personal data to these external parties. We only pass on personal data to external parties where this is necessary in the context of the performance of a contract, where we are legally obliged to do so, where we have a legitimate interest in the transfer or where some other legal basis permits the transfer of data. Where processors are used, we only pass on personal data of our customers on the basis of a valid data processing agreement.

Information on data transfers to the USA and other third countries

Among other things, we use tools from companies based in the USA or other third countries that are not secure under data protection law (e.g. in the context of payment processing). If these tools are active, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in these third countries. We would like to point out that no level of data protection comparable with that of the EU can be guaranteed in these countries. Where applicable, the data transfer is based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or on an adequacy decision (EU-US Data Privacy Framework).

Withdrawal of your consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can withdraw consent you have already given at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out up to the withdrawal remains unaffected by the withdrawal.

Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)

IF DATA PROCESSING TAKES PLACE ON THE BASIS OF ART. 6(1)(E) OR (F) GDPR, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AT ANY TIME TO OBJECT TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA ON GROUNDS RELATING TO YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION; THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING BASED ON THESE PROVISIONS. THE RESPECTIVE LEGAL BASIS ON WHICH PROCESSING IS BASED CAN BE FOUND IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU OBJECT, WE WILL NO LONGER PROCESS THE PERSONAL DATA CONCERNED UNLESS WE CAN DEMONSTRATE COMPELLING LEGITIMATE GROUNDS FOR THE PROCESSING WHICH OVERRIDE YOUR INTERESTS, RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS, OR THE PROCESSING SERVES THE ESTABLISHMENT, EXERCISE OR DEFENCE OF LEGAL CLAIMS (OBJECTION PURSUANT TO ART. 21(1) GDPR).

IF YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED FOR THE PURPOSES OF DIRECT MARKETING, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT AT ANY TIME TO THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA CONCERNING YOU FOR THE PURPOSES OF SUCH MARKETING; THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING TO THE EXTENT THAT IT IS RELATED TO SUCH DIRECT MARKETING. IF YOU OBJECT, YOUR PERSONAL DATA WILL SUBSEQUENTLY NO LONGER BE USED FOR THE PURPOSES OF DIRECT MARKETING (OBJECTION PURSUANT TO ART. 21(2) GDPR).

Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority

In the event of infringements of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. This right to lodge a complaint is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.

Right to data portability

You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done insofar as it is technically feasible.

Information, correction and erasure

Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to obtain free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing and, where applicable, a right to have this data corrected or erased. You can contact us at any time regarding this and any other questions on the subject of personal data.

Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. You can contact us at any time for this purpose. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:

  • If you contest the accuracy of your personal data stored by us, we usually need time to check this. For the duration of this check, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • If the processing of your personal data took place or takes place unlawfully, you may request the restriction of data processing instead of erasure.
  • If we no longer need your personal data but you require it for the exercise, defence or establishment of legal claims, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data instead of its erasure.
  • If you have lodged an objection pursuant to Art. 21(1) GDPR, a balancing of your interests and ours must be carried out. As long as it has not yet been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.

If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data may – apart from being stored – only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or of a Member State.

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries that you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and by the padlock symbol in your browser line. If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Objection to advertising e-mails

The use of contact data published within the scope of the legal notice obligation for the purpose of sending advertising and information material that has not been expressly requested is hereby objected to. The operators of these pages expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, for example by spam e-mails.

4. Data collection on this website

Cookies

Our website uses exclusively technically necessary cookies. Cookies are small data packages and do not cause any damage to your device. They are stored on your device either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (permanent cookies). Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit.

The cookies we use are technically necessary for certain website functions to work properly (e.g. the shopping basket function, the ordering and booking process or secure payment processing). These necessary cookies are stored on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of its services. The storage of technically necessary cookies is permitted without consent pursuant to Section 25(2) TDDDG.

No analytics or marketing cookies: We currently do not use any cookies for analytics, tracking or marketing purposes. For this reason, no cookie consent banner is required either. Should we integrate consent-requiring services in future (e.g. Meta Pixel, Google Analytics or comparable analytics and marketing tools), we will implement a consent management tool beforehand, obtain your consent and amend this privacy policy accordingly.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Server log files

The provider of these pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are: browser type and browser version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, time of the server request and IP address. This data is not merged with other data sources. This data is collected on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of its website – and the server log files must be recorded for this purpose.

Contact form

If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry is connected with the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of the enquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) where this has been requested; consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Enquiry by e-mail or telephone

If you contact us by e-mail or telephone, your enquiry including all resulting personal data (name, enquiry) will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

5. E-commerce and payment providers

Processing of customer and contract data

We collect, process and use personal customer and contract data for the establishment, content arrangement and amendment of our contractual relationships. We only collect, process and use personal data on the use of this website (usage data) insofar as this is necessary to enable the user to use the service or to bill them for it. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The customer data collected is erased after completion of the order or termination of the business relationship and expiry of any statutory retention periods.

Transfer of data upon conclusion of a contract for online shops, retailers and the dispatch of goods

If you order goods from us, we pass on your personal data to the transport company commissioned with the delivery and to the payment service provider commissioned with payment processing. Only such data is passed on as the respective service provider needs to fulfil its task. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures. If you have given corresponding consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, we will pass your e-mail address on to the transport company commissioned with the delivery so that it can inform you by e-mail about the shipping status of your order; you can withdraw your consent at any time.

Shipping service providers / logistics partners

For the dispatch of your orders we use the following logistics partners, depending on the destination country, weight and type of consignment. We transmit to them the data required for delivery (in particular name and delivery address, and where applicable e-mail address and telephone number for delivery notifications):

  • DHL – Deutsche Post AG / DHL Group, Charles-de-Gaulle-Straße 20, 53113 Bonn, Germany,
  • DPD – DPD Deutschland GmbH, Wailandtstraße 1, 63741 Aschaffenburg, Germany,
  • UPS – United Parcel Service Deutschland S.à r.l. & Co. OHG, Görlitzer Straße 1, 41460 Neuss, Germany.

The legal basis for the transfer is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Payment services

We integrate a third-party payment service on our website. When you pay for a purchase or a booking with us, your payment data (e.g. name, payment amount, bank account details, credit card number) is processed by the payment service provider for the purpose of payment processing. The contractual and data protection provisions of the respective provider apply to these transactions. The payment service provider is used on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract) and in the interest of a payment process that is as smooth, convenient and secure as possible (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Insofar as your consent is requested for certain actions, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR is the legal basis for the data processing; consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

Stripe

The provider for customers within the EU is Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland (hereinafter “Stripe”). We process all online payments on this website via Stripe – both shop orders and event, workshop and package bookings. For this purpose, Stripe’s payment form (loaded from js.stripe.com) is embedded on the order and booking pages; you enter your payment data directly there.

Depending on the type of order and the device, various payment methods are available to you via Stripe: credit card, PayPal, Klarna and Stripe Link, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay on supported devices. All of these payment methods are processed via Stripe; we do not integrate any further separate payment service provider.

Data is transferred to Stripe on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure payment processing). Any transfer of data to the USA is based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. For details, please see Stripe’s privacy policy: https://stripe.com/de/privacy.

PayPal (payment method within Stripe)

We do not integrate PayPal as a separate payment service. Even if you choose PayPal as the payment method, the payment is processed via Stripe; Stripe forwards the payment to PayPal (Europe) S.à.r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg (hereinafter “PayPal”). PayPal’s data protection provisions then apply in addition. Where applicable, the transfer of data to the USA is based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. You can find details here: https://www.paypal.com/de/webapps/mpp/ua/pocpsa-full. For further details, please see PayPal’s privacy policy: https://www.paypal.com/de/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.

Klarna (payment method within Stripe)

In the shop, Klarna is also available to you as a payment method within the Stripe payment form. This payment is likewise processed via Stripe; Stripe forwards it to Klarna Bank AB (publ), Sveavägen 46, 111 34 Stockholm, Sweden (hereinafter “Klarna”). Klarna’s data protection provisions then apply in addition: https://www.klarna.com/de/datenschutzerklaerung/.

6. Event registrations and bookings (Freeheeler Experience / FEO)

If you register for one of our events (Freeheeler Experience / FEO, workshops, testivals) or book a ticket, we collect the data you provide in the registration or booking form. As part of the registration we process in particular the following details:

  • first name and surname,
  • address,
  • e-mail address,
  • telephone number,
  • date of birth,
  • emergency contact,
  • selected event,
  • boot size (for providing test material/equipment),
  • confirmation of the disclaimer of liability,
  • your data protection consent.

This data is processed in order to perform the event contract and to prepare and handle your participation (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The emergency contact and the date of birth serve to ensure your safety during the event and to check the conditions of participation and are based on our legitimate interest in the safe running of the event (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) as well as – where necessary – on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Your data will be erased after the event has ended and any statutory retention periods have expired.

Registrations via www.freeheeler-campus.com

In addition to this website, we operate a second system for registration for the Freeheeler Campus at https://www.freeheeler-campus.com. Registrations received there are transferred automatically at regular intervals into the booking back end of this website and stored there. The data transferred includes in particular first name and surname, e-mail address and other contact details, the service booked as well as the payment status and amount paid. The purpose of the transfer is the uniform organisation and handling of our events.

Both systems are operated by the same controller (Richard Schürf GmbH, see the section “Information on the controller”). This does not constitute a disclosure of your data to third parties, but processing within the responsibility of the same company. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract or implementation of pre-contractual measures).

7. Newsletter

Newsletter data

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected, or only on a voluntary basis. We use the newsletter service provider described below to send the newsletter.

rapidmail

We send our newsletters with “rapidmail”. The provider is rapidmail GmbH, Augustinerplatz 2, 79098 Freiburg i.Br., Germany (hereinafter “rapidmail”). The data you enter for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter (in particular your e-mail address) is stored on rapidmail’s servers in Germany.

We use the so-called double opt-in procedure for subscribing to our newsletter. This means that after you have subscribed we send you an e-mail to the e-mail address provided in which we ask you to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm your subscription within 24 hours, your information will be blocked and automatically erased after one month.

rapidmail uses the data of newsletter recipients among other things in order to send the newsletters and to evaluate them, or to make this technically possible. According to its own information, however, rapidmail does not pass this data on and does not use it itself to contact you. For further information, please see rapidmail’s data protection provisions at: https://www.rapidmail.de/datensicherheit.

Legal basis

The data processing takes place on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The lawfulness of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the withdrawal.

Data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement with rapidmail pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. This is a contract required by data protection law which ensures that rapidmail processes the personal data of our newsletter subscribers only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

Storage period

The data you have provided to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from our servers as well as from rapidmail’s servers after you unsubscribe. Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.

8. Plugins and tools

Google Fonts (local hosting)

This site uses so-called Google Fonts, provided by Google, for the uniform display of fonts. The Google Fonts are installed locally. No connection to Google’s servers takes place in this process. Further information on Google Fonts can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en.

Social media

On our website you will find links to our profiles on social networks (e.g. Instagram, Facebook). These are simple links; no social media plugins with direct transfer of data to the network operators are integrated. Only when you click on such a link and reach the respective platform is your data processed by the respective provider. The respective provider is responsible for the data processing on the linked platforms.
